About Us

The Black in Business Expo is a signature initiative of Nxt Big Thing Charlotte, a community-based organization that has been serving Black-owned businesses since 2021. Over the years, we’ve supported more than 1,000 businesses locally while building connections with thousands more.

Our work has been proudly featured with Spectrum News 1, Qcity Metro, The Charlotte Post, Voyage Raleigh, and Spectacular Magazine.   A true reflection of our commitment to uplifting and amplifying Black entrepreneurship.

In the wake of the pandemic, pop-up markets quickly became the “next big thing” for small businesses. While impactful, our Founder & CEO, Alisia Hutchinson-Bradshaw, recognized that visibility alone wasn’t enough.

Many Black entrepreneurs needed deeper support. In addition to visibility, Black-owned small businesses need access to resources, capital, business education, and valuable connections that could help them grow beyond the booth. The Black in Business Expo was created with that purpose in mind.

More than a vendor event, it’s an experience designed to provide real insights into the everyday challenges business owners face, along with hands-on learning opportunities and direct access to industry experts.

We are committed to creating spaces where Black-owned businesses don’t just show up, they scale,  sustain, and build lasting success.
